The Hacienda was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed there – which turned out to be a real stroke of luck as we couldn’t have had a nicer base from which to explore Palm Springs. This was our first visit to California and we cannot wait to return, primarily because of the great time we had at this lovely gay resort.
Tom, Caleb, Jim and all the amazingly warm, friendly staff make every effort to help your stay go smoothly. We were helped brilliantly with everything from sightseeing to bar and restaurant advice. Importantly, they advise where not to go as much as where to go.
All the rooms are lovely (though the grand deluxe suites are particularly special – fantastically huge fireplaces). There’s a super view of the mountains, and the cable car to the top is a short drive from the Hacienda. Some of the best restaurants and bars are a long walk from the hotel so a rental car is suggested. The Warm Sands neighborhood has several other gay guest houses which we toured one afternoon. We sure had picked the best of them all. The Hacienda is by far the most upscale of any resort, gay or straight, we have visited anywhere.
The Hacienda has a great, relaxed atmosphere, a home-from-home feel. This is where we’d stay when we go back to Palm Springs.
