My partner and I spent a weekend in Palm Springs last month and stayed at The Hacienda based on a recommendation from two of our very close friends. They told us The Hacienda was considered the best gay resort and the only place to stay when visiting Palm Springs. How right they were. We were first impressed by our welcome greeting when we checked in, the grounds are immaculately groomed and filled with lush vegetation, the views especially from their front pool (one of two large swimming pools) showcased Palm Trees and the impressive Palm Springs mountain range. Our large suite was in a word unbelievable. The suite had a massive fireplace, a separate large round glass dining table, living room with a jumbo flat screen TV plus our bedroom also had a flat screen TV and DVD player. The bathroom, which we understand was completely remodeled last year, was exceptional – fitted with horizontal water jet sprays and two large shower heads. The meals provided as part of our rate included an extensive continental breakfast (hard boiled eggs, cheeses, ham, fruit, various breads, etc.) and a memorable lunch – one day we each had salads and for our second day we each tried one of their specialty sandwiches which were served on china plates, on the umbrella table next to the pool. Beyond all of this, the staff not only answered our many questions about Palm Springs, and what to do, but also gave us several choices each night for restaurants and bars. We are already planning a return trip to Palm Springs next March primarily because of the wonderful time we had at the Hacienda. Trust us…this one is a real find.
