I have stayed in similar properties before – in Provincetown, in Ft Lauderdale, and in PSP on earlier visits. My first stay at the Hacienda confirmed what many others have said – it’s by far the best of any of them, and really exceeded my expectations.
The staff you interact with daily are all top-notch. Steve, Robbie, Luis, Paul – they all take pride in what they do and they do it very well. Just a pleasure to deal with! The food is very good – breakfast is buffet style with high-quality goods (not the pre-packaged muffins common in most places). A proper lunch is also included, and you can choose your entre from a personalized daily list. I had the salmon salad twice and it was in the “superior” category. Staff bring a tray to your room, or you can eat poolside at an umbrella table. There are two swimming pools, a hot tub by the front pool, and an outdoor fireplace for socializing. Monday night Jim & Maurice (owners) hosted a wine & nibbles reception for all the guests. They know a lot about Palm Springs and were very helpful with suggestions on what was worthwhile and what wasn’t.
The grounds are beautiful, the staff is super, the amenities are really nice, the guests (mostly couples) and the guest experience in general were nicer than what I expected. There is a quiet, refined atmosphere at Hacienda – if you want more of a “bathhouse” environment then stay somewhere else. These folks do an impressive job and run a top-notch facility.
