I stayed here for a week with my ‘better’ half in late January 2012/ early February and searched through various properties available in Palm Springs before taking the plunge and booking this resort. This certainly had some of the best reviews and seemed to match exactly the right mood and type of holiday I was after. It actually exceeded my expectations and we both loved the place! The hosts (Jim and Maurice) are welcoming – as are all the staff you will meet – Steve, Tom & the rest of the team! They are all so warm and friendly – nothing is too much trouble – very helpful – and are ‘there’ if you need them – but discreet and ‘invisible’ if you don’t! There are only 10 suites – so with the two pools & spa bath, very comfortable sunbeds in beautiful and well maintained gardens – you could ‘opt’ to be sociable with other guests – or simply relax in your own ‘away from it all’ world! We actually had one of the swimming pools to ourselves on several occassions – fab! Saying that – it was good to chat to our fellow guests over lunch or simply to find out what they had been up to during the day. A very relaxing resort in a fantatsic location in Palm Springs – less than an hour’s drive to the Joshua Tree National Park – well worth a visit. The Aerial Tramway is less than 20 minutes away – another fab day out giving you fantatsic views over the surrounding area. Oh..and the night life – leave the car behind as all the pubs (including the gay bars) and restaurants are literally within a 15minute walk! Although most californians think you are mad to walk – you really can leave the car behind and head to S.Palm Canyon Drive – where you’ll find most of the restaurants and shopping area, E.Arenas road is where you’ll find the main ‘gay’ hub of pubs – although there are one or two scattered elsewhere. We felt no need to drive at night to go to any of these places – the Hacienda is in a really great location. From the welcome on arrival, the relaxed breakfasts, the bonus of lunch when lazing by the pool – or coming back to the resport and finding lunch waiting for you in the fridge (!) if you’ve been out exploring for the day, combined with the level of service provided and quality of the room (We stayed in the smallest ‘Patio Room – which was private, secluded and perfect for a relaxing ‘get away’) this resort hit the spot! Full marks all round! Have no hesitation in recommending this place to others. I am always weary of chosing resorts based on web sites only (especially when it comes to ‘gay’ accommodation) – but if you are looking for a more refined, upmarket get away from it all relaxing ‘home from home’ – book now! I know you will not be disappointed – this is the first place I have stayed where I actually wanted to write a review for Tripadvisor and sing the merits of my stay – as I don’t have a single negative comment to make about the Hacienda!
